Much has been made of Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle series on Netflix. The eight-part show has received brutal reviews following its release – but those who worked on With Love, Meghan have nothing but praise for Meghan and her husband Harry.
A number of crew members have opened up about their experiences working on the show. And one gave a trolling insight into Prince Harry’s behaviour behind the scenes.
The insider told People magazine: “Whenever Harry visited set, he was always super polite and friendly. But it was clear he wanted this to be Meghan’s moment to shine”.
And as for the couple’s kids, Archie and Lilibet, the crew member added: “She]Meghan] was super attentive and doting on them. We would give them headphones so they could listen to audio”.
Harry only made a brief blink-and-you’ll-miss it appearance in With Love, Meghan.
Fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the Duke had to wait until the last 10 minutes of the final episode, when he finally appeared at a garden brunch Meghan threw for her family, including mum Doria, and some friends.
Shane Watson, a columnist for The Times, has since voiced concerns about Harry following his brief appearance, describing the 40-year-old as appearing “diminished” and “like a spare part” in Meghan’s new lifestyle venture.
She wrote: “The second series of With Love, Meghan has just been confirmed and, like it or hate it, there is no denying that Meghan’s whole life has been working towards this point.
” Harry is already looking like a spare part in her new incarnation as a lifestyle icon. “
Commenting on his fleeting visibility, she added:” Blink and you’ll miss him. Not only that, he’s wedged at the back of the crowd of well-wishers at her signing off party. He seems diminished, unsure of what’s expected of him. “
Certainly, it seems fans like to see Harry and Meghan on screen together.
With Love, Meghan debuted on Netflix on 4 March and – while it had fairly solid figures – the audience was nowhere near the big turnout who tuned in for the couple’s tell-all series, Harry &, Meghan in 2022, Forbes reports.
With Love, Meghan drew 526, 000 households, according to data culled by Samba TV, a TV tech company that measures audience data. Those numbers include live plus an extra five-day viewership of the series since its premiere.
By comparison, that was barely a quarter of the viewership that Harry &, Meghan drew in a smaller window (live plus just three days). That show drew in a massive 2.1 million households.
Netflix bosses, meanwhile, are said to be ‘ concerned ‘ by the negative reviews of Meghan’s new show, with an insider further stating that her own excited announcement of season two does not mean the Sussexes ‘ $100million deal has been renewed.
With Love, Meghan dropped out of the top ten most watched shows globally, as well as in the US and UK, just six days after its release.
” It’s not a runaway success, “an insider told MailOnline, adding:” I know they filmed the shows back-to-back so in theory there is no second season. It’s like with lots of Netflix shows, it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one.
“What this does is allow edits to be made to the show from feedback from press and Netflix viewers. It’s clever and cost effective. So no, the overall contract hasn’t been renewed yet”.
