NERC Directs Discos To Publish Details Of Metre Refunds
All electricity distribution companies must report the refunds made to customers who purchased meters under the Meter Asset Providers (MAP) scheme, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Following its first stakeholder gathering in the Nigerian electricity supply industry in 2025, the Commission made the announcement on its X handle on Monday.
The NERC’s Meter Asset Provider Scheme uses third party companies that have been licensed by the regulator to hire the Discos to install and procure meters for customers.

For greater transparency, NEC has mandated that Discos post information about MAP refunds on their websites. The commission stated that this will encourage customers and demonstrate commitment and consistency to the scheme.
