Sharjah, a T20 international

Nepal 173-6 (20 overs): Sheikh 68* (47), Hosein 2-21, Mayers 2-26

West Indies 83 all out (17.1 overs): Holder 21 (15), Alam 4-24, Bhurtel 3-16

By 90 runs, Nepal won.

West Indies lost their T20 series against minnows Nepal in the United Arab Emirates after being bowled out for just 83.

Nepal, who are 18th in the world, has never played a full-fledged nation in a T20 series before this week, but they have already won with a win.

The windies’ total of 83 runs against an associate is the lowest a full member nation has ever scored against an associate, and their 90-run winning margin is also the largest among associates against full members.

The West Indies’ Test team was humiliated by Australia in a crushing defeat in July, which was the second-lowest score in Test history and the worst since 1955.

Dr. Kishore Shallow, president of Cricket West Indies, convened an urgent meeting to review the series and sought the advice of legendary former players Sir Viv Richards, Sir Clive Lloyd, and Brian Lara.

Additionally, they were unable to make it to the 50-over World Cup in 2023, and they are currently out of the 2027 edition’s standings.

A 100-run fourth-wicket partnership between Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora, with Jora hitting five sixes in Sharjah, gave Nepal a respectable score of 173-6 in their 20 overs.

West Indies, who are currently in sixth place in the T20 standings, never really started the chase, with only three batters achieving double figures.

In the 12th, they went 63-4 before falling to just 83-4 overall.

The nation, which was coached by Stuart Law from Australia, will compete in the 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers next month after participating in the 2024 and 2014 competitions.

On Tuesday (15:30 BST), the series wraps up with the third T20.
