NDLEA Uncovers Secret Colorado Factory In Lagos, Arrests 30-Year-Old Owner

A secret laboratory used inside a residential building in the Isolo region of Lagos State, where colorado, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, is being produced has been discovered by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA director of media and advocacy, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

He claimed that Stephen Imoh, the laboratory’s 30-year-old owner, was detained in a raid after months of surveillance and intelligence gathering regarding the local production of the psychoactive substance.

The breakthrough, according to Babafemi, came after operatives discovered several Colorado consignments in March and May 2025, suggesting that the substance was being produced locally.

The suspect’s possession of 16.2 kg of freshly cooked Colos, 1.7 kg of adb-chmnaca cannabinol, 4.5 kg of potassium carbonate, and 91 litres of dibromo butane, all contained substances used to make synthetic cannabis.

The 30-year-old lab owner, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, was arrested in a secret laboratory run by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officers who found a controlled production facility where Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis is being produced in a residential building in Ajao estate, Isolo Lagos.

The discovery came after NDLEA officers intercepted shipment of freshly produced Colos in Lagos in March and May 2025, suggesting that the dangerous psychoactive substance had been imported into the nation and was now being produced locally, the statement read.

The effort paid off on October 30th, 2025 when NDLEA officers raided a residential apartment in the Ajao estate in Lagos to prepare Colos, a cannabis strain made from the psychoactive plant and a variety of chemicals.

“Recovered from the apartment include: freshly cooked Colos that are 16.2 kilograms, ADB-CHMNACA cannabinol (1. 7 kg), Potassium carbonate (4. 5 kg), and dibromobutane (91 litres).
