Jason Kidd, a legendary NBA player, has purchased Everton from its American affiliate.

The Dallas Mavericks’ head coach, a double Olympic champion and 10-time NBA All-Star, has become a part of the Friedkin Group’s Roundhouse Capital Holdings.

In December of this year, the Texas-based business completed its acquisition of Everton.

Kidd joins the Mavericks as the latest prominent American to invest in British football after winning the 2011 NBA Championship.

Former NFL defensive end JJ Watt is a minority owner at newly promoted Burnley, while legendary quarterback Tom Brady is also involved with League One winners Birmingham City. Fourteen Premier League clubs are partially owned by Americans.

Before the start of the 2025-26 campaign, Everton will leave Goodison Park at the end of this season and relocate to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, which is estimated to have cost more than £750m.

With a new stadium on the horizon and a bright future ahead, it’s a great time to join Everton’s ownership, said Kidd, 52.

As one of the best players in the NBA and now a successful coach, Everton will benefit greatly from his knowledge and winning mindset, Watts added.
