After an awkward fashion incident, Naga Munchetty was given the nickname “Naga Munchetty” after a well-known children’s character.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 50, recounted the time she bought two pairs of dungarees and asked her husband, James Haggar, for his opinion – which didn’t go down well. Speaking on Alan Carr’s Life’s A Beach podcast, the broadcaster said: “I decided I was going to buy some dungarees.

” I haven’t worn dungarees, probably since I was about six, and I thought ‘ I’m regressing, so I’m going to embrace that’. So I bought two pairs of dungarees. The second pair, which were pale denim shorts, became a big joke for her husband because the first pair were a classic dark blue set.

Naga said:” The second pair were pale denim shorts-dungarees. Quite cool. But I put them on… I’m typically very confident with what I purchase and wear. I know what suits me, I’d like to think. But I thought ‘ Oh, I’m not quite sure about these’. So I went over to my husband, James, and said ‘ What do you think? ‘ “

James ‘ bent over double ‘ laughing at the look. She continued:” He went ‘ Oh my gosh, you look like Humpty Dumpty’. They were returned right away and immediately placed back in the bag. Naga also revealed that earlier this month, her gruesome health battle had reached a critical point when the suffering required the call of an ambulance.

She revealed that she had adenomyosis and had to work with doctors to get it treated in 2023. Naga described the agonizing symptoms in an interview with The Times that were initially dismissed as just a “normal period.”

She said:”]A normal period] It’s not throwing up. It’s not diarrhoea. You’re sweating through pain, fainting, cramping over, and putting yourself on painkillers way more than you should be, from the age of 15, so it’s not like hugging a toilet and crying. The actor claimed that a particularly repulsive episode prompted the need for emergency assistance.

During this ordeal, she instructed her husband, acclaimed TV director James, to ensure doctors didn’t perform a hysterectomy on her unless she was conscious. She first shared her health struggles with the crippling gynecological condition in a segment on BBC Radio 5 Live in 2023, even admitting to experiencing pain while being on the air.

Naga began her successful broadcasting career with Reuters Financial Television. Since then, she moved on to ascend the ranks, securing roles on CNBC, Channel 4 and now the BBC.
