After taking a ferry flight for scheduled depot maintenance, the aircraft safely landed in Banjul, The Gambia, on December 23.
Due to technical issues, the aircraft made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkinabe, on December 8.
The aircraft and its crew were temporarily detained. The aircraft had been carrying 11 military personnel, according to a joint statement from the Alliance of Sahel States, which included Mali, Niger, and Burkinabe.
According to an alliance statement read on state media in the three West African nations, an aircraft belonging to the Air Force of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (C-130) was forced to land today in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkinabe, due to an in-flight emergency situation while it was operating in Burkinabe airspace.
NAF, however, claimed that the landing was solely a precaution and that it was conducted in accordance with international aviation safety regulations. The company also argued that there was no need for an emergency and that the aircraft remained operational throughout.
