Jamal Musiala is set to return to the Bayern Munich squad, six months after breaking his left leg at the Club World Cup.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany confirmed Musiala could be involved in the Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Germany international sustained his injury, also dislocating an ankle, during Bayern’s Club World Cup match against Paris St-Germain in early July last year.

Musiala collided with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the quarter-final and has been absent from the squad ever since.

“Obviously Jamal has a lot of positive energy coming out of this dark tunnel.

“Then, even the small things feel great. I tell my players to never forget this feeling of coming back.”

Attacking midfielder Musiala enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign before injury struck, scoring 21 goals and registering eight assists across all competitions as Bayern won the Bundesliga title.

He was also a key player for Germany at Euro 2024, scoring three goals in five games, and will be hoping this return can boost his chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup.

After such a long absence, Kompany insisted there would be no pressure on either Musiala or Alphonso Davies, who is also fit again, to find form straight away.

Wing-back Davies, 25, returned to the side in December after missing the start of the season with a cruciate ligament tear.

“I don’t expect them to decide games for us,” Kompany said.
