Luis Munoz, a 13-year-old midfielder for Arsenal, has become the youngest player to play in the Uefa Youth League.

The England Under-15 international, who was born in December 2011, made his debut in the 85th minute of Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the under-19s competition, which also featured two goals from Gunners wonderkid Max Dowman.

Munoz surpasses Liam Payas’ record of 13 years, 11 months and 15 days, who played for the Gibraltar-based Lincoln Red Imps at the age of 14 in September of last year’s record-breaking season.

Munoz, who turns 14 next month, only started the game as a forward for the final few minutes.

Munoz was a member of the Arsenal Under-16 squad that defeated Aston Villa in the U16 Premier League National Final earlier this month.

When Dowman, 15, made his Premier League debut in August, he was 14 years, 8 months, and 19 days old.

The competition is open to the Champions League under-19s teams from the participating clubs.

In the victory, Emerson Nwaneri, 15, and brother of Ethan, the first-team midfielder, also made the bench appearance.
