Mykhailo Mudryk, the Chelsea winger, has been charged by the Football Association with breaking anti-doping regulations and could receive a four-year ban.

The FA provisored the 24-year-old Ukraine international’s suspension in December after an “adverse finding in a routine urine test.”

Under the rules of the world’s governing body, Fifa, players who intentionally take a prohibited substance may be banned for up to four years.

Mudryk claimed at the time that he was “completely shocked” and that he had never knowingly used any prohibited substances.

Since December 1st, he hasn’t played for Chelsea and hasn’t been a member of a matchday squad since November 28.

Mudryk’s mental health is supported by the club, but he is not able to train with Chelsea either.

He was not a member of the squad but did attend the Blues’ Uefa Conference League final win in Poland last month.

According to the FA’s anti-doping regulations, regulations 3 and 4 of the FA’s regulations are in full force and effect on Wednesday, the FA stated in a statement on Wednesday: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been accused of anti-doping rule violations alleging the use of a prohibited substance.

We are unable to comment further at this time because this case is ongoing.

Chelsea has not commented, but they did say in December that they would work to find out what led to the negative test, saying that “Mykhailo has categorically confirmed that he had never knowingly used any prohibited substances.”

Enzo Maresca, the Blues manager, stated in December, “We believe in Mykhailo and trust means that.”

In the event that an A sample is found to be negative, players have the right to request an analysis of the B sample from a urine test under FA rules.

Charges will be brought if the negative finding is confirmed by the B sample analysis.

Players may either consent to the conclusion and the applicable consequences or request that the case be heard.

Mudryk is currently on a contract with Chelsea until June 2031, signing him from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth up to £89 million.
