After his marriage split, Dani O’Carroll revealed how Dancing with the Stars has transformed his fitness, especially after he put on some extra weight while dating his new girlfriend.
Danny, who starred in Mrs. Brown’s Boys and has two sons, Blake and Jamie, split from Amanda Woods last year after 17 years of dating.
Danny and Tina, who he describes as his “everything,” have a blossoming relationship. He openly acknowledged that once they began dating, his fitness regimen took a backseat.
Speaking fondly of Tina, he expressed: “It’s amazing. She is incredible. Every week, I’m greeted by her in the front row, where she blows me kisses and gives me fists. It means everything. She’s brilliant. She is amazing. She’s so good to me”.
Danny, 41, also revealed that he has been able to shed the pounds that had grown on while he was enjoying his cozy days with Tina while binge watching Netflix and drinking vodka and cokes.
He reflected: “I lost a lot of weight. After going through a separation, which I thought was the best experience of my life, I met my partner, Tina, and we moved on. nI sort of started having lazy days in, on the couch watching Netflix, having a few vodkas and coke”, reports the Irish Mirror.
Despite trying to maintain his weight, Danny acknowledged he wasn’t as disciplined as before. However, he has since changed his life by participating in Dancing with the Stars: “I mean, I can’t tell you how much weight I’m losing doing this.
Danny has been shedding the pounds and it’s showing, as he revealed: “Like they had to punch a hole in my belt last Sunday. My waist has dropped two and a half inches. It comes off so fast”. He now wants to lose weight, maintain it, and feel happy about it: “My main goal right now is to keep trying to be as healthy as possible.” I feel really fit”.
Salome Chachua, his dance partner, is a key player in keeping him on track with his exercise regimen. Despite his success, Danny confessed his surprise at how far he’s come in the competition: “I’m shocked. I don’t know what the public votes are like. I don’t know where I come in those votes, but I am happy I’m here”.
He’s staying true to himself on the show, which he finds liberating: “I’m not here to play a game and be somebody I’m not. I’m being myself. Knowing that others value you for who you are makes a nice feeling. I was once worried about what people wanted from me and what kind of Danny they wanted. At each stage, I could be seven different people.
” I got to the stage where I thought, ‘ F*** that, if people don’t like me, it is not my problem’. And that’s the reason I attended the show. It seems to be paying off as I’m just being myself.
Danny mentioned the family’s support for his mother and suggested that if he made it to the final, there have been a few visits over the past few weeks. Although they are arriving sporadic, my dad might stop in Florida to visit me when I get there. Who knows when he might return home and greet you? I don’t know. He is very busy with other things that he has going on there.
Danny has made it clear that Danny’s participation in the RTE One series is not an offer for more employment. He rightly stated, “I can’t tell you about anything right now, but there were offers coming in before Dancing With The Stars for when it’s over.”
Furthermore, he stated emphatically:” I’m not doing this to try and get work. I’m here to enjoy myself. I have no goals whatsoever. People who enter this place expecting to be paid for this might be disappointed. I don’t know why you’d put yourself in a position to let yourself down. “
Danny shared an intriguing revelation: “Danny once mentioned the possibility of his father Brendan running for Irish president. However, his dad, famous for creating Mrs Brown’s Boys, insisted he’d only take on such a role if he could enact real change.
Elaborating, Danny mentioned:” I’ve asked him would he go for it a few years ago and his answer was only if he could change things. And that is impossible. He never therefore vowed to pursue it. He’s never coming home. He worked his a*** off all over the place, he deserves to live his life the way he wants. I’d rather let him enter politics than do that. He doesn’t need to. “
Danny also made it known that Danny’s father had even contacted him about running for local council. Dismissing the notion, Danny explained:” He doesn’t have the time for it. He was busy doing Mrs Brown’s Boys at the time. He’s a Florida man now. He’s an American citizen and he’s never coming home. And I’m delighted for him. I’m chuffed for him. “
