Brendan O’Carroll, a star of Ms. Brown’s Boys, said he was “bemused” by the decision that RTE did not air their annual Christmas Eve show from Grafton Street in Dublin.

Brendan O’Carroll has shared his surprise at a broadcaster’s decision to abandon it’s live Christmas Eve show.

The Mrs Brown’s Boy star usually co-hosts the live broadcast from Dublin’s Grafton Street with Liveline host Joe Duffy.

They interview shoppers and allow member of the public to give shout outs to friends and family listening from around the world.

However, Kieran Cuddihy took over the microphone for Joe earlier this year and hung it up.

RTE has since stated that it will remain operational from the capital this year but will do so in the future.

It’s undoubtedly not a choice I would make, Brendan told The Irish Sun. I’m really surprised RTE won’t be hosting the show this year on Grafton Street.

“Kieran Cuddihy would have been the person who would have given the final hand over from Joe Duffy to him, and I’m confident that he would have done so.”

“I’m bemused RTE aren’t doing it, and I’m also depressed for the viewers who can’t tune in just to hear a little bit of home.”

“You’d have people listening in most years from Australia, New Zealand, even as far away as Argentina. That’s not happening this year.”

RTE have also decided not to broadcast Shedites, a new comedy drama from Brendan’s BOC Productions and BBC Studios, which will be airing as part of a double bill with Mrs Brown’s Boys on BBC One this New Year’s Day.

His contract expires in 2026, and Brendan has spent the last 15 years entertaining audiences as Agnes Brown on the biggest TV show of the year.

On Christmas Eve at 9:30 p.m. and at 10:30 p.m. on BBC One, the Mrs. Brown’s Boys Christmas special will air on RTE1.

The comedian said the comedian’s bottom line is that fans adore the old-fashioned slapstick wisecracks and jokes, despite the fact that some critics dislike them.

He hasn’t actually seen this year’s production, and he and the rest of the cast, like always, do so on Christmas Eve.
