Mourinho Celebrates Benfica Return With Convincing Win

With a respectable 3-0 victory over AVS on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s second spell in charge of Benfica.

At the conclusion of the first half, Heorhiy Sudakov’s visitors opened the scoring, with Vangelis Pavlidis scoring the second from the penalty spot just before the hour mark.

Benfica moved second in the table, five points clear of leaders Porto with one more match played, with Franjo Ivanovic scoring the winning run.

25 years after his first goal, the veteran Portuguese coach, who is now the Eagles’ coach, celebrated the third goal with gusto as he celebrated with his first.

After a surprise defeat by Azerbaijani minnows Qarabag in the Champions League, Benfica fired coach Bruno Lage this week, and on Thursday, Mourinho was appointed as his replacement.
