Morecambe ‘stop all football operations’

As the club’s future is uncertain, the first team at Morecambe has suspended all football operations.

The National League gave the Shrimps a suspension until 20 August, Monday, because of a breach in the league’s rules.

The London-based sports investment firm Panjab Warriors announced in a statement that they are still “ready, willing and able” to take over after more than a year of discussions with the club’s owner Jason Whittingham.

However, they have confirmed that the takeover is still under consideration and have “implored” the current owners to take the sale.

The first team had to stop all football operations because the required insurance that was in place has now expired because payment has not been made, according to a joint statement from Panjab Warriors, minority shareholders, the Shrimps Trust, and local MP Lizzi Collinge.
