A swimsuit model’s mum has confirmed her daughter’s death at the age of 27 just days after she had revealed she was stepping back from the spotlight

A swimsuit model has tragically died just days after pleading with her fans to remember her in an emotional retirement message. Japanese model Aoi Fujino has died aged 27.

Her death comes just weeks after stepping away from her career. She was once named is one of the 100 bustiest celebrities in the world and revealed her decision to quit the spotlight on December 31 last year.

She said in the post: “This is my last message to all Aoi Fujino fans. I really loved you. Thank you so much for everything up until now. Please remember me once in a while. Lol.”

However, just five days later her mum revealed the star had died following an illness. On January 5, her mum released a statement on her daughter’s Instagram page.

It read: “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who took care of her during her lifetime.”

Aoi, who was from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, was diagnosed three years ago with a rare malignant tumour. According to the NHS, Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of soft tissue sarcoma.

It is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children, though it can affect adults too. It often presents as a lump or swelling in areas such as the head/neck, arms, legs, or genitourinary tract.

The actress and model was best known for appearing in provocative swimsuit and lingerie snaps and clips. However, following her diagnosis she had put her career on hold to focus on getting treatment.

Despite returning to work in August 2024, she took another break six months later. She did, however, continue with work such as meet and greets.

After her mum revealed the sad news, her fans took to the post to share messages of condolence. One user penned: “Life of illness must have been hard, but I was touched by the feeling of not forgetting to smile even in the midst of it. All I can say is rest in peace now. Rest in peace.”

Another added: “I can’t accept this, but thank you for everything you’ve done. I’m sorry. I’ll never forget you! Rest in peace. And I love you.” They also added a string of pink heart emojis.
