Due to the delay in the event’s start time on its online stream, MOBO Awards viewers were unsure.
Fans who waited on the live stream of the event’s start time of 8 pm waited, as the YouTube video stated that the “event will start soon” despite many hours that had passed. One user asked: “Where is the stream”? and another said: “What in the hell?”? One fan commented: “Thought it starts at 8?”? and another added: “I’ll be in my grave by the time u start”.
At 8: 25pm, the event finally began with a hyped performance from Bashy. Indiyah Polack, a Love Island aficionado, and Eddie Kadi, a comedian, host the MOBO Awards taking place at Utilita Arena in Newcastle. Indiyah made a lasting impression when she made her debut last year, and Eddie, who has a long history on Strictly, is well-known to millions of BBC viewers.
Throughout the night, well-known presenters will award deserved awards like mroe and album of the year.
Nominees include the likes of Ghetts, Sampha, Darkoo, Cleo Sol, Little Simz, Raye, Jorja Smith, Myles Smith, Pozer, Spider, Native James, Duppy, Scorcher, Nines, Potter Payer, K-Trap, Beyonce, Tems, Tyla and more. For his role in Supacell, Ghetts has also received awards.
London rap duo Krept and Konan, who won awards in 2013 and 2015, are some of the big names to hit the stage. Spice, a dancehall legend, will also be playing on the night.
Vybz Kartel, a legendary musician, was given the MOBO Impact Award almost a year after his release from prison after a murder charge was overturned. Following his life sentence, he spent 13 years in prison.
Tonight in Newcastle, two special awards were presented. Denise Lewis, an Olympic icon, received the award for “Panning the Way.” A champion on the track, read a statement posted on MOBOs Instagram. A trailblazer in sport. A powerhouse on our screens. At the 2025 #MOBOAwards, we are proud to recognize the incredible @realdeniselewis with the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award.
