The OC actress Mischa Barton has praised Noel Gallagher as ‘the best’ in a BBC Radio 2 interview with Rylan Clark, discussing her experience working on his 2011 music video

Mischa Barton has revealed “the best” A-list star she’s worked with. The 39-year-old actress, who rose to fame portraying Marissa Cooper in the popular American teen drama, The OC, featured in several music videos during the 2000s. This includes her appearance in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ 2011 track Everybody’s On The Run.

Despite their professional connection, she confessed that she missed Oasis during their reunion tour, branding herself a “bad superfan”. Discussing her experience working with Gallagher, she told Rylan Clark on BBC Radio 2: “He’s the best. He really, really, is the best.

“I’ve seen them before, but that’s no excuse. I’m a bad superfan.” Barton also starred in Enrique Iglesias’s music video for his song Addicted and James Blunt’s Goodbye My Lover. She reminisced: “That was the era of really big music videos. It was a big deal. They were fun to do.

“James Blunt one was fun. I didn’t actually act opposite him in it. It was a whole storyline but it was fun, shot in the Hollywood Hills. And the Enrique one was really fun too. It was actually directed by Peter Berg, so it was a really cool, really interesting shoot. And Enrique was lovely and, I mean, isn’t he just the coolest?”.

The OC aired from 2003 until 2007, with Barton’s character meeting a tragic end in a shocking twist at the conclusion of the third series, which she described as “a big moment” for viewers.

She added: “A whole different generation is watching it now too and they’re surprised. People would come up to me in the airport, crying, very emotionally moved by the fact.”

The remarks come as Barton prepares for her UK stage debut in Double Indemnity. Her previous credits include the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, psychological thriller The Sixth Sense, and, most recently, the mystery Murder at the Embassy.

In 2023, Mischa planned a move to London and had her heart set on a part in the West End as she prepared to capitalise on her triumphant return to acting following her new role in iconic Aussie soap, Neighbours.

The Hollywood star was born on British shores and considered making London her permanent home, according to showbiz pals. Mischa, who shot to fame playing Marissa Cooper in the hit US teen drama The OC in 2003, starred in the revived Australian soap Neighbours.

The iconic show aired what was thought to be its last ever episode in July 2022 – bringing the show to an end after 37 years, as the soap lost its financial backing. However, Amazon came to the rescue to give Neighbours a new lease of life – and brand new episodes went live on Amazon every Monday.

At the time, opening up about joining the long-running soap, the Hollywood star explained: “I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia, a place I know and love!

“I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.” Neighbours’ executive producer Jason Herbison said: “With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa’s calibre join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter.

“Mischa’s character is dynamic and unpredictable and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad.”
