A royal expert tells the Mirror that Meghan will have “no excuse” not to travel to her husband’s home country if security is restored for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
When Prince Harry said it was “impossible” for him to safely bring Meghan and their children to the UK in the aftermath of his court defeat over security last year, all hopes of a royal family reunion seemed to be dead in the water. But with the new government review into the threat level surrounding the Sussexes underway, there is mounting speculation that the couple could visit Blighty as early as this year.
Meghan will have to make some very uncomfortable decisions if the new threat assessment turns in Harry’s favor, as the couple haven’t been together in the UK since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. According to him, “Meghan’s security issue has essentially been used as an excuse to avoid visiting the UK in the last few years.” Many people believe that the public’s reaction to her over here is what actually caused the problem.

Given the new review, he continued, “She has no choice but to think about it if the protection is put back in place for Harry and Meghan when they are on UK soil.” She added, “She has no excuse for her to stay away.
She’ll actually confront the British public and family members who she has been trying to criticize. There will be some difficult choices in either case because she will want to support Harry in whatever way she can and has also stated that she doesn’t enjoy being away from her children for very long.
“I don’t believe Meghan’s character would allow her to eat humble pie, and if she visits the UK, she will have to order humble pie.”
The bookmakers were already betting on the date of a potential Sussex family vacation to the UK, with 2026 currently the favorite year, followed by 2028. Even though Birmingham is scheduled to host the Invictus Games in the summer of 2027, the year could be even better.
Meghan might find the Invictus Games’ distractions less daunting, Duncan contends, because if she kept her distance and allowed Harry to travel alone with Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, they could cause a “PR disaster” if they chose to stay away.
She knows that moving away from her home would have a negative impact on how people here perceive her, he said. It would “start bringing up all kinds of issues about the couple’s relationship and their desires.”
People may want to see Harry back in the fold, but at the moment they are the outcast couple who live in self-imposed exile and have caused a lot of trouble and made a lot of money off the royal family during the rift, according to the polls, which they are sure they will be talking to with their UK advisors about how the land lies.
