Meghan Markle has shared her hope for Princess Lilibet and how she makes every effort to fulfill it.

The mother-of-two answered audience questions about how she handles public scrutiny in her keynote speech at the Time100 Summit in New York City. Meghan, 43, explained that she makes a “very, very conscious effort to create boundaries for herself.”

The Duchess of Sussex believes that this position is crucial when trying to be a good “role model” for her young children in addition to being crucial for protecting her own mental health and well-being.

In keeping with this, Meghan stated, “I’m aware that having a son is just as important as having a son, and not just raising a very strong and confident young woman, but also having a son.”

She continued, “I try to model that behavior, but it starts with what is happening internally. And when I can actually stop listening to whatever the noise is, I really don’t give it any cred, which has become a big part of my day-to-day life.

And I’ll be informed of any changes that are necessary. I’m okay with being a little late on the game for a lot of things going on, but that’s another story. That is a component of what I find to be peaceful.

Meghan and husband Prince Harry, who was also present at the summit, both endeavour to give their two children as much of a normal upbringing as possible, and guard their privacy fiercely. Archie and Lilibet are rarely photographed, but brief glimpses show they’ve both inherited their father’s famous red hair.

Little Lilibet’s daily routine is covered up by The Sussexes’ previous offerings, including sweet insights into family life behind the doors of their Montecito mansion. Meghan spoke with Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd about juggling motherhood and work in the first episode of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which debuted earlier this month.

The moniker Lilibet Diana honors two renowned royal women.

Meghan explained how Lilibet, a 3-year-old girl, still naps and only spends half-days in preschool. Even if my door is locked to the office, she knows where to find me if she wakes up and wants to find me.

She’ll be seated on my lap with a group of executives in attendance, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m not interested in snagging those moments. If I don’t have to, I don’t want to miss pick-up. I want to avoid missing the drop-off.

Unlike Archie, five, Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara, California, an ocean away from Buckingham Palace. However, Harry and Meghan made sure to pay tribute to their daughter’s royal heritage with their touching choice of names.

Famously, Lilibet was Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II,’s childhood pet name. The prince’s beloved mother, Princess Diana, passed away in 1997 at the age of 36, in a nod to her middle name, Diana, which bears a nod to her.
