The Duchess of Sussex openly discussed a challenging parenting situation that moved her celebrity pal. Meghan’s Netflix show, which received mixed reviews, made the admission.

Meghan Markle has admitted she was “not well” after spending a difficult amount of time away from her children Archie and Lilibet.

The heartfelt revelation came during the second series of the Duchess’ Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, which premiered earlier this year.

Although Meghan didn’t specify when this separation occurred, it is thought to have occurred shortly after the Sussexes’ unexpected stay in the UK in the wake of Queen Elizabeth’s passing in 2022.

A star-studded cast included Chrissy Teigen, fashion expert Tan France, and renowned chefs David Chang, Samin Nosrat, Christina Tosi, and Clare Smyth, among others.

Meghan shared some open-mouthed stories about the difficulties she encountered while avoiding her children in one instance.

In conversation with Queer Eye’s Tan France, who shared his own heartache at being away from his two young kids, Meghan empathised: “Oh I know. The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks,” the Express reports. “I was,” she paused, “…not well.”

Prince Harry had previously touched upon these “difficult days” in his memoir Spare, recounting the painful separation from their children after the Queen’s passing.

He described how they spent “days and days hugging the children, unable to let them out of our sight,” and how they lived apart from Archie and Lilibet “longer than we’d ever been.”

The Sussexes left their children in the care of Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, in LA. They travelled to Manchester for a One World Summit on 5 September 2022, before heading to Dusseldorf for an Invictus event and then returning to London.

Their stay was extended when Harry’s beloved grandmother sadly passed away on 8 September. Despite the ongoing rift between the brothers, they made several public appearances together, including greeting mourners with Prince William and the Princess at Windsor, and attending the funeral and committal service on 19 September.

Harry has made several solo trips to his home country while Meghan hasn’t visited since the Queen’s passing.

It comes as Meghan compared herself to the former US president and former First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama at an event this week. Speaking at Fortune’s annual Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington DC, she discussed her and Harry’s brand new deal with Netflix.

She explained to the audience that her husband and I had a first look deal with Netflix, which was a step up from the Obamas’ deal in terms of lengthening it.
