Maura Higgins clearly enjoyed mingling with the A-listers during an unexpected appearance at 2026 Golden Globes as she continues her bid to crack the States
Maura Higgins has come a long way from her Love Island days as she makes a shock appearance at the Golden Globes – rubbing shoulders with the A-listers as she oozed old-school Hollywood glamour.
Maura, 35, who reached the final of the 2019 series, made an unexpected appearance at the glitzy film awards on Sunday night in LA – looking every inch the film star as she joined some of the world’s biggest stars on the red carpet.
She’s known for making bold red carpet statements, and at one of film’s most prestigious nights the former ring girl, who is currently appearing on the US version of The Traitors, did not disappoint.

The Irish native, who wasn’t known to have any connection to the awards, nonetheless turned heads in a black, off-the-shoulder, floor-length black dress with large, shimmering gold sleeves on the red carpet – in what was her first appearance at the awards.
One of the first stars to hit the red carpet at the 83rd Golden Globes, she topped off her old Hollywood filmstar look with a huge golden coat-like cape which draped from her shoulders to the ground – and a classic, soft-curled Hollywood hairstyle.
Fellow Irishwoman Jessie Buckley won Best Actress at the Globes on the night for her performance in Hamnet, which also saw Netflix crime drama Adolescence and comedy thriller One Battle After Another win big.
Maura is a firm favourite in the UK following her villa experience, having enjoyed stints on shows like Dancing On Ice, Cooking With The Stars, and I’m A Celebrity.
And she will already be familiar to American audiences due to The Traitors, airing on Peacock, with reports last June that Maura had signed up to the show in a bid to ‘crack America’.
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Maura is becoming a huge star across the pond and her slot on The Traitors is just part of that. The future is bright – and has stars and stripes.’
Indeed, her surprise and confident appearance at The Golden Globes is a sure sign that Maura has Hollywood firmly in her sights.
The star has been spending increasing amounts of time in the States in recent years, having shot to stardom during series five of Love Island alongside Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague.
She made her first appearance on TV Stateside in 2023, returning to Love Island to become g the social media presenter for Love Island USA and the Love Island Games.
Just a year later, Maura bagged the role as host of Love Island USA: Aftersun, her fun, sassy style making her an instant hit with viewers.
It was reported back in 2023 that Maura had taken on the same publicist as Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn’s publicist to seize multiple opportunities.
A source at the time told the Sun, “Maura continues to make waves across the pond as the digital host for Love Island USA, and it’s come with huge demand and work opportunities Stateside.
“Maura is eager to emulate Christine’s success by dominating the fashion world as well as becoming a regular face on US TV,” a source revealed to The Sun.
