For the first time since making claims that her romance with Pete Wicks ended up being “cheating,” Maura Higgins has been spotted.
The former Love Island and I’m A Celebrity!…. Get Me Out of Here! star, 34, had been linked to TOWIE star Pete, 37, since September. When she told her fellow campmates that she was finally content with a new connection, Maura even admitted how deeply she felt for Pete while living in the Australian jungle.
However, last week, it was reported that the pair called it quits on their love story. After their respective appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrity last year, the pair said they were “better off as friends.”
Maura’s infamous savage dig at Pete on Valentine’s Day may have contributed to the split, which she may have taken quite personally. On Valentine’s Day, the Irish bombshell had a lavish dinner with friends in London. As she styled her new locks in a straight-stylish manner, Maura looked incredible while wearing a red off-the-shoulder dress. As the cameras flashed, Maura and her male friend exchanged hands. However, when asked where Pete was by photographers, Maura quipped: “Dunno, probably out cheating”.
Maura’s first appearance since her vicious remark toward Pete is now visible. As they arrived at the InterTalent x BAFTA networking breakfast on Tuesday, the brunette beauty and her close friend were seen out and about in London.
Maura was all smiles as she carried her wallet with her pal after her reported breakup with Pete. The flawless actress donned a high-neck white tank top and a pair of flared black pants in a casual-smart outfit. A stylish grey overcoat and a pair of white trainers, complete with a classic black Chanel bag, completed the look.
Her brunette locks were styled in a slicked-back bun, and she continued to do so with flawless bronze makeup.
Maura’s most recent public appearance comes amid allegations that Pete, her ex-boyfriend, is allegedly “harmed” by the cheating allegations. Close friends of Pete have refuted the rumors and asserted that the reality TV star has “nothing wrong” with them.
The source claimed that they were “innocent” in response to rumor that Maura had “lots of messages with other women”. After Maura called “suspicious” of Pete and “possing as if he might have been messing with her,” an insider told the Sun that the two had parted ways.
However, speaking to MailOnline, another source said that Pete “did nothing wrong” and “did not cheat”. They claimed that his messages to friends and coworkers were just innocent exchanges of messages; they weren’t cheating. He frequently texts friends of the same sex, according to them.
The source went on to suggest that the “narrative” is “unfair” given that Pete – once considered a ‘ bad boy ‘ – has “worked really hard” on himself over the years. They alleged that Pete has always been open and honest about past wrongdoing and relationships struggles.
They said that he was “upfront” with Maura from the start of their romance and the source said that continuing the “same narrative” when he’s now a “better man” is “very unfair”. They added that it’s “not the same old” Pete, as he has “worked really hard” to “mature” and “better himself” previously.
The source went on to tell the outlet: “He hasn’t done anything wrong and Maura’s claims are unsubstantiated and just bizarre”. They added that Pete “still adores her” and doesn’t want to “trash her”, either publicly or in private.
She believed she had proven herself right when she opened his phone and received numerous messages from other women. Even though the messages were all innocent, she knew she couldn’t ever feel like trusting him. She didn’t want to be constantly worried about what her man was doing”, they added.
