Roman Kemp, Martin Kemp’s son, has revealed that after an accident at home, he required medical attention.
Martin Kemp has been left “strapped up” after sustaining an injury that’s been compared to a “horror film”. The Spandau Ballet star is said to be “lucky” to have kept his hand after a chainsaw accident at home.
At the time of his injury, Martin, 64, was reportedly attempting to trim a branch at his Hertfordshire home. On his You About, son Roman Kemp, 32, discussed his father’s condition. Tom Grennan, a popstar, hosts a podcast.
Roman says his dad sent a message to the family WhatsApp group simply reading “yep, chainsaw”. Tom asked: “What the hell has happened to your dad’s fingers, because that looks like a horror film?”
Roman responded, “It perfectly sums up my dad because, Friday night, I just finished work and my dad sent a picture of his hand, which shows that all of his fingers are heavily strapped up and have a claw-like effect.”
All bandaged up, bits of blood, and the only thing he writes underneath is, “Yep, chainsaw.” What did I actually reply like? “
Roman says both he and his sister Harley were sending concerned messages to their father. Although he says the former EastEnders actor wasn’t responding to his messages.
Roman claims that he eventually made the decision to get in touch with his father to see if he was alright. I asked, “What are you doing, I asked?” And he says, “Oh no, it’s not bad,” and it’s all this sort of stuff.
What did you do, I asked? And he says, “There was a bit of branch that we wanted to chop down.” Why are you handling a chainsaw, you’re in your late 60s right now, I ask?
Tom questioned whether Martin was a “bit of a handyman,” but Roman responded that his mother, a former Wham! Shirlie Holliman, the singer, is “better.” He continued, “He’s got more than enough money; get a professional in.”
Do you understand what he said? I removed the sheath from the blade, which I found to be unreadable. He claimed that it had been turned on, that he had picked it up, and that the engine had started to spin.
Tom said Martin was fortunate not to lose his hand, adding, “I know a mate who lost a finger through that.
Roman continued, “Martin screamed” and ran into Shirlie, whose blood was pouring all over. The singer then received a tetanus shot and went to the hospital.
If Martin suffered a long-term injury because he “wouldn’t be able to play guitar,” Full Attention singer Tom joked that Shirlie would be “fuming.” Roman came to the conclusion, “Idiot man, he’s an idiot.”
