Due to the possibility of storms in the area, Marseille’s Ligue 1 game against Paris St.Germain will be postponed on Sunday.
In the region of Marseille that is in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur (PACA) region, authorities issued an orange alert for flooding and thunderstorms.
The game was scheduled to begin at 20:45 local time (19:45 BST), but concerns about the safety of the fans were caused by the forecast for heavy rain between 19:00 and 22:00.
According to the PACA prefect, “rainfall could reach 70 to 90mm in some places and 120mm locally in a few hours.”
Le Classique will be postponed in due course, but Marseille and PSG have not yet made any comments.
