Alex Marquez, from Spain, won the Malaysian Grand Prix to record his third championship victory.

The 29-year-old Gresini rider placed second overall in the MotoGP World Championship behind his brother Marc Marquez, who finished second in the sprint race on Saturday.

And he did it better on Sunday, finishing second behind fellow Spaniard Pedro Acosta by 2. 676 seconds.

Following success at the Spanish and Catalan Grands Prix, Alex Marquez has won for the first time this year outside of Spain.

Early in the 20-lap race, Marquez overcame Acosta before winning the race against Francesco Bagnaia from Italy.

Before being forced to retire on lap 18, pole-sitter Bagnaia, who won the sprint race on Saturday, was on course for third place.

Joan Mir of Honda took advantage of the hot and humid Sepang circuit to claim the podium spot.

Previous Moto3 crash damaged the win.

After suffering a serious crash in the previous Moto3 race, Marquez declared that his “prayers and thoughts are with the Moto3 guys.”

His CIP Green Power team has confirmed that Noah Dettwiler will need “multiple surgeries” following a collision with Jose Antonio Rueda, the newly crowned world champion.

Following the incident, the race was postponed and short, with the race medical director confirming that both riders had been airlifted to a hospital but were still conscious.

His team claimed that Noah Dettwiler had a “serious accident.” He will need multiple surgeries, he says.

Noah is a true fighter, and CIP Green Power supports him without a doubt. As soon as possible, we’ll update you.
