The mother of two and a pop star has stated that she doesn’t “acknowledge time.”
Pop diva Mariah Carey has declared boldly that ageing is a non-event for her as she simply doesn’t entertain the concept of time. The 56-year-old singer revealed that she’s written a song about her thoughts on getting older, before releasing her 16th studio album, Here For It All.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she stated, “I don’t allow it … it just doesn’t happen.” I have no idea what time is. Numbers are not something I understand. I don’t pass judgment on time; my new song begins with that phrase.
Mariah and journalist Michaela Angela Davis spoke about reflection on her life while writing her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey for the year 2020. Mariah’s numerous difficulties as a biracial woman growing up in Long Island, New York, were covered in the memoir.
Working together helped, she said, “Being creative was both therapeutic and challenging. We stayed up until midnight to determine how to proceed with the story.
I anticipated that it would bring up unpleasant experiences that I didn’t want to go back through. I’d wake up and be a little freaked out after listening to it because it was a difficult situation to go to sleep in. Because I experienced that and this is me.

Despite this, Mariah mentioned that she added some humor to her most recent work, particularly the album’s lead single “Type Dangerous,” which she described as “tongue in cheek.”
Reflecting on her mother’s impact on her illustrious career, she also added: “We didn’t always have the world’s greatest relationship but certain things she said or did resonated with me as a kid.
She once said, “Don’t say if I make it, say when I make it,” and I never gave up.
Since launching her career in the late 1980s, Mariah has had three UK number-one singles and two UK number-one albums. The singer is perhaps best known for her perennial festive hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You.
The star has also appeared in numerous Hollywood motion pictures, including Precious, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Bachelor.
