Just weeks before he was scheduled to go on trial for allegedly having a role in the Kim Kardashian robbery, Marceau Baum-Gertner passed away. The suspected “gate” of Kardashian’s millions of pounds of stolen goods, which were taken while she was detained in her private Paris apartment at gunpoint, was Baum-Gertner, who was detained.

The suspect, who was referred to as Nez Râpé, or “rough diamond,” had already been convicted of robbery and having a history of stealing goods, and allegedly had been threatened by other underworld figures prior to his death.

According to a source who spoke to the Mail Online, Mr. Baum-Gertner lived in Paris and regularly reported to the police while being released on bail following his arrest eight years ago for the Kim Kardashian robbery. His name was included in the defendants’ list for the trial, and he expressed his excitement at the court’s decision to remove his name.

“This was until he passed away suddenly on March 6 in Paris’s 10th arrondissement. In response to the widespread publicity surrounding the Kardashian jewelry, criminals are known to have threatened him with threats. He was suspected of liaising with mafia gangs from all over the world.

Eight days after Baum-Gertner’s death, Baum-Gertner was the only defendant named as the fourth in the case, but the trial is scheduled to start in Paris on April 28 and May 23.

After being robbed during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, Kim Kardashian will fly over from Los Angeles to attend the trial. The reality TV star was bound, gagged, and locked in a bathroom as masked men robbed more than £7.6 million worth of jewelry during the harrowing crime.

The mother of four was staying at a posh apartment in the 8th arrondissement of Paris when, on October 3, five men dressed as police officers gained access to the residence after verbally and physically assaulting a concierge at gunpoint. After her bodyguard had left for the night, the concierge was forced to lead the men to Kardashian’s private suite, where she was by herself.

The attackers stormed into the apartment, held Kardashian at gunpoint, and forced her to restrain. According to police reports, they taped her mouth shut, tied her hands and feet together, and locked her in the bathroom. One of the robbers allegedly demanded access to one of her valuables while holding a gun to her head during the terrifying ordeal.

A £3 million diamond ring that Kardashian had displayed on social media in the days leading up to the robbery was taken from a jewelry box containing an estimated £7.6 million worth of luxury goods. Kanye West’s engagement ring, which he gave to his wife at the time, has not been recovered to this day.

Given that Baum-Gertner was 72 when he passed away, French investigators believe a group of aging career criminals were responsible for the robbery. The suspects were nicknamed the “grandpa gang” by French media because of their ages, many of whom were in their 60s and 70s at the time of their arrest. Numerous suspects allegedly confessed during interrogations, leading to their identification and eventual detention using DNA evidence and surveillance footage.
