New Chandigarh’s second ODI
India 292 (49.5 overs): Mandhana 117 (91), Brown 3-42
Australia 190 (40.5 overs): Sutherland 45 (42), Goud 3-28
India defeated India by 102 runs, winning the series three games, 1-1.
As India defeated Australia 102 runs to bring the one-day international series to a thumping 100, opener Smriti Mandhana was the star.
Mandhana, the format’s top batter, reached three figures with just 77 balls before posting 117 from 91 balls as India posted 292 in New Chandigarh.
Australia won the series opener by defeating Australia by 282 runs in the 41st over.
With the final ball of her 10th over, Georgia Wareham was bowled by Seamer Kranti Goud, who was chosen as the bowler for India, 3-28.
Australia may soon have regretted selecting India as their starting pitcher because Mandhana led the home team to a strong start.
The 29-year-old left-hander and Pratika Rawal combined for a stunning knock that included 14 fours and four sixes.
Mandhana had scored 117 out of India’s 192 when she was eventually dismissed in the 33rd over.
With one more ball in the innings left, Australia was able to pull India back with Darcie Brown, who took 3-42, Deepti Sharma for 40, and no other batters who had not made a note of their performance.
Australia then lost both openers within five overs, and despite reaching 108-3 with Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland both doing well, neither was able to capitalize and the innings fell.
With a series-deciding victory, India will face the world’s top two and favorite teams for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in Delhi’s third ODI, which will take place on Saturday.
