Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee leaving in January to further their World Cup ambitions is not ruled out, according to Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who insists that the club’s goals will come first.
This season, neither player has started a Premier League game. Since starting against Burnley at half-time on August 30th, Mainoo has played for 93 minutes while Zirkzee has only played 82 of those minutes.
Both players are known to dislike the situation and are eager to re-establish their positions as international partners with England and the Netherlands, respectively, before the US, Canada, and Mexico’s summer tournaments in the future.
Amorim claims he will only approve moves if they are appropriate for United, but he shares their sympathies.
He claimed that he played football. In every circumstance, I want to assist my players, and I understand everything.
Given that the World Cup is taking place, I understand the frustration of some players. I am aware of its significance.
“The club comes first, though,” he said. I’ll be happy if I can support the club and the players. If not, I must consider the team.
The departures of Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo from the Africa Cup of Nations next month could have a positive impact on Mainoo and Zirkzee, respectively.
That is unrelated to Matheus Cunha’s odd case, who had a “minor” injury that club source described as “minor” and made a planned Saturday appearance to turn on the Altrincham Christmas lights.
Prior to Monday’s game against Everton at Old Trafford, United are five games without an unbeaten run.
However, United’s most recent draws at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, where Amorim’s side wasted first-half lead, necessitated late equalisers, were drawless.
The former Sporting manager is reluctant to declare the “storm” he predicted when he first arrived at the club has passed.
He said, “I don’t like to say the storm is over.” “It’s my job, especially in our club, to always feel like a storm is coming.”
