On Thursday, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and head coach Ruben Amorim met at the Carrington training facility.

Ratcliffe flew to Manchester for talks, which were reportedly preplanned, as first reported by The Athletic.

Ratcliffe and Amorim also had other meetings. However, it is understood that Amorim, 72, wants to work through his current difficulties.

This evening, Ratcliffe and chief executive Omar Berrada traveled to Leigh to watch the club’s women’s team reach the Champions League main draw for the first time.

Following a disappointing start to the season, Amorim has come under a lot of pressure.

United have won once thanks to a stoppage-time penalty against Burnley last month, and League Two Grimsby have since been eliminated from the Carabao Cup despite spending more than £200 million on new players.

Some sources claim that Ratcliffe still supports the former sports coach and that their belief in him is fueled by significantly improved data, but others claim that the statistics reveal chronic underperformance.
