The couple’s wedding, Michele Reiner, and the legendary Hollywood photographer, Rob Reiner, were found dead on December 14 at their Brentwood, California, home.
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner died “minutes” after sustaining “multiple” knife wound injuries, their death certificates have revealed.
The documents confirm that The Princess Bride filmmaker and his wife died of “multiple sharp force injuries” inside their Los Angeles home on December 14 caused “with (a) knife, by another”.
According to the death certificates obtained by People magazine, Rob, 78, was found at 3:45 pm, followed by Michele, 70, who was also found at 3:46 pm. Since then, the two have passed away.
Rob and Michele’s 32-year-old son Nick – who had battled addiction issues and was reportedly being treated for schizophrenia – has been arrested and charged with their murders. Meanwhile, the couple’s other children confirmed that a memorial service for them will take place “at a later date”.

Jake and Romy Reiner, the siblings’ parents, are still appreciative of the love and support they have received, according to a statement from their spokesperson, Jake, 34, and Romy, 27, respectively. Later on, they will share information about a memorial service in their parents’ name.
The When Harry Met Sally… director and his wife had previously been referred to as Jake and Romy’s “best friends.” Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are going through each day, according to a statement released last week.
No one should ever go through the horrifying and heartbreaking loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. They were our best friends, not just our parents.
When discussing the circumstances surrounding their deaths, the siblings continued to thank and thank people for their love and support.
We are appreciative of the kindness, condolences, and support we have received from people of all kinds, not just from our own families and friends.
We now request respect and privacy, tolerance for speculation and compassion for humanity, and the memorialization of our parents for the extraordinary lives they led and the love they shared.
After being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, their brother made his first court appearance last Wednesday (17.12.25).
During his appearance at Los Angeles Superior Court, Nick wore a blue anti-suicide smock and shackles despite having battled addiction and homelessness for years.
