The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday night with three touchdown passes.
After the Chiefs’ third straight game, Mahomes found his rhythm after the first two first-half interceptions.
Kareem Hunt, Rashee Rice, and Travis Kelce scored touchdowns in the second half as the two-time NFL MVP completed 25 of his 34 passes for 299 yards.
Travis Kelce, the tight end, caught six passes for 99 yards and added a touchdown on his own, which was his best of the season.
After the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl in February, the 36-year-old considered retiring, but made a commitment to at least another season in March.
The three-time Super Bowl champion said he and Commanders tight end Zach Ertz, 34, are making the most of what they have left to do for the most part.
Without knowing how long we’ll be able to play these games, Kelce said, “We’re cherishing every single one of them.”
The Chiefs’ record now includes five wins and three losses from eight games, bringing their total to four victories and five losses.
