The loveable Married at First Sight UK stars are the only couple from their series that are still together today
Only one couple from Married at First Sight UK’s latest season are still together today, and they have sent fans into a frenzy with a sweet announcement posted to social media.
Abigail Lindsay and John Shepherd met for the first time at the altar, choosing to marry each other upon their first meeting during the Channel 4 reality show’s tenth season. They were latecomers to the experiment but quickly cemented themselves as one of the strongest pairings.
The duo made it all the way to the finale of the show where they chose to remain committed to each other, and they have stayed true to their word ever since. While the other couples on their season have since parted ways, Abi and John remain as loved-up as ever.
On New Year’s Eve, the pair posted a “special announcement” video to their social media page. A caption alongside it read: “You all know how our year started, but you don’t know how it ended, Cara Mia.”
In the footage the couple were all smiles as John addressed viewers, beginning: “Hi everyone, we were going to do a little ‘here’s what we did this year’ carousel but you know what happened. But you don’t know the ending.” He continued: “We are very pleased to announce that we’re expecting…” before taking a long pause as Abi beamed next to him.
The footage was then edited to show the pair in the same position but dressed as The Addams Family characters Morticia and Gomez as John continued his sentence: ” – a fantastic New Year’s Eve party.”
The reveal was clearly not what fans were expecting, as many flooded the comments section underneath the clip with their reactions.
“Guys I love you guys!!!! Got me all excited,” penned one fan. “You two got me in the first half,” said another. A third called the couple “naughty” for teasing their followers, with Big Brother host AJ Odudu also weighing in with a crying laughing emoji.
“You little teasers,” said another, adding: “No lie you got me so excited.”
Abi and John’s co-star, Rebecca Fenney recently the identity of her new partner after her relationship with MAFS groom Bailey Smith ended. She revealed she was now dating Liverpool FC footballer Lily Woodham in a sweet video.
In the footage, Rebecca explains: “In your thirties a girl will come into your life when you least expect it. You’ll question everything you’ve ever known about yourself. Who you are, what you are, how this feels so right? It’s important you don’t try and fight it. Let love in.”
