Bestseller author and psychotherapist Julia Samuel spoke to the legendary “Shout” singer about her son Jordan in a recent episode of the Therapy Works podcast.

Lulu broke down in tears while making a “painful” admission about her relationship with her son. Speaking in a recent instalment of the Therapy Works podcast, bestselling author and psychotherapist Julia Samuel chatted to the iconic “Shout” singer about her son, Jordan, whom she shares with her former husband, the hairstylist John Frieda.

Her revelations came after Lulu admitted on her Turning Point podcast earlier this year that she “couldn’t say she was a great parent” and also confessed that she did her “best”.

She remarked, “He has forgiven me for everything… he’s so magnanimous but he’s also very intelligent, and kindness and intelligence, I think come together to make him kind.”

It would also be a topic that emerged with Julia as she delved into the different sides of Lulu. She described on-stage Lulu (real name Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie) as “fun and bubbly”, but claimed there was also a Marie who “mourned the marriage” with John.

Julia alleged that there was a version of the “Boom Bang-a-Bang” singer who “mourned a miscarriage” and who “mourned not being the mother” that she may have wanted to be, as the conversation ultimately moved on to the dynamic she shares with Jordan.

Lulu addressed her son, saying, “He will not, of course, listen to this. He would be too painful, I should assume, but he is already aware of this. He said, “That book won’t be read by me.” He said, “I know it all anyway.”

We are getting closer and closer as a result of how I’ve looked at my pain and how impressed I am with the work I do, but he’s telling me, you know, he’s. “

“Proud of you,” you say? Julia asked, “of the work that I’ve done,” as Lulu responded.

Because he’s so kind and forgiving of what I didn’t give him, Lulu continued, “Uh-huh, that’s a good word, I can’t even find the words, but that’s what makes me want to cry.”

She claimed Jordan had “accepted it and moved on,” and that she and her son were now “kind of on the same page,” but that there were things she could have done differently.

Later on, in a further admission about her son, Lulu said Jordan understands that she is making “amends”, and it’s “great” that she is able to be there for his children.
