LSHA Crisis: Tinubu Has Bigger Headache, Sanwo-Olu Should Step In – APC Chieftain

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Babatunde Bank-Anthony, has called on Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to speak up regarding the leadership tussle in the state’s House of Assembly.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Tuesday, Bank-Anthony stressed the need for the Lagos State governor to address the situation.

“I anticipate the governor to respond to this as well.” In Lagos State, he ranks first overall. Because the parliament to which he is accountable and the legislature that makes the laws for the state in which he is in power, he cannot ignore what happened yesterday, Bank-Anthony said.

“The governor should speak up about this issue to the right quarters”, he argued.

His remarks come shortly after the leadership tussle in the Lagos State House of Assembly grew. &nbsp,

On Monday, security personnel stormed the Assembly complex, including officers and Department of State Services (DSS) employees, to thwart lawmakers’ attempts to enter the chambers.

However, they were able to access the chambers after tussling for hours with Alausa, Lagos’ Alausa area, Speaker Mojisola Meranda, who was then in charge of the plenary session.

The APC leader says the Nigerian leader should act with caution despite the call for President Bola Tinubu to enter the leadership tussle that is tearing the Assembly apart. &nbsp,

Bank-Anthony claimed that President Tinubu may be cautious about making a statement about the crisis to avoid being seen as taking sides because political hierarchies are present in governance.

“26 years of democracy in Lagos, Nigeria right? At this age, do you want to continue sucking your mother’s breast? The APC chieftain doubled down on Tinubu’s need to concentrate on addressing pressing national issues, saying, “Let us leave this man alone; he has a bigger headache.” &nbsp,

Mudashiru Obasa was removed as the assembly’s speaker due to fraud allegations, which sparked the crisis in the Lagos Assembly. In place of the seasoned lawmaker who represents the state’s Agege I Constituency, they elected Meranda.

Obasa rejected his removal and is in court to challenge the decision, a move Bank-Anthony has faulted.

“If Obasa cannot come to the House as a member, let him resign after 20 years in the Assembly. Let him give somebody else a chance”, he said on the show. &nbsp,
