Love Island All Stars is set to resume filming following the wildfires in South Africa. Bosses shut down production on the ITV2 dating show, which was due to kick off on our screens this evening.

However, sources now tell The Mirror that fans won’t have long to wait until the new series airs. It was due to start this Monday, but filming is hoping to be resumed this week.

A source told The Mirror: “Bosses are hoping to resume filming on Wednesday 14th January but it’s still very much an ongoing situation which they’re continuing to monitor closely. The team have worked hard to make sure the site is safe for the crew and islanders.”

ITV are hoping to resume filming on Wednesday, meaning the show could air its first episode as early as Thursday night. Earlier, when the show was postponed, ITV said: “Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed. Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed.”

The wildfires have affected South Africa’s Western and Eastern Cape, with strong winds and high temperatures fuelling the blazes. Last week, fire services said that significant progress was made overnight but wildfires in the Langrug and Franschhoek areas in the Boland were still burning ‘out of control’.

A spokesperson for Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services had planned a military flight to assess the full extent of the fire and determine its current direction. They said: “This assessment will inform the operational plan for the day as active firefighting and mitigation efforts continue. The fire reported yesterday in Stormsvlei continues to burn, with an active fire line of approximately 2 km.

” Two fresh ground teams have been deployed this morning to continue active firefighting operations. De Wet Cellar, Worcester CWDM Fire Services confirm that the fire reported yesterday afternoon at De Wet Cellar in Worcester has been successfully contained. No damage to infrastructure and no injuries have been reported in relation to any of the fires.”

Millie Court, Shaq Muhammad and Whitney Adebayo are just some of the former Love Island stars due back on the new series. “It’s a nightmare. It’s left the team scrambling to arrange alternative options on what’s the most difficult day in terms of logistics for the crew – it’s called the ‘get in’ day and they need to make sure everything is running on time and that the islanders don’t get a glimpse of each other before arriving at the villa,” a source told The Mirror ahead of the initial announcement.

“The filming for their arrivals/meetings take hours. Safety is priority though and they have plans in place for such situations. But not ideal given the show hasn’t even begun.”
