Following news of Loretta Swit’s death, tributes have poured in from her co-stars of the iconic TV show M*A*S*H. Leading the tributes was Alan Alda, who played her love interest Hawkeye Pierce. Loretta became a fan favourite for playing Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan.

She praised the writing team for their efforts in showing them how to transform the stereotype of a one-joke sexist into a real person with real ambitions and feelings.

We celebrated the day the script for her character, which she didn’t identify as Hot Lips, was published, with the designation Margaret. “Loretta made the most of her time here,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mike Farrell, who portrayed B. J. Hunnicutt in season four of eleven, shared a black and white photo of Loretta on social media. He captioned the post simply saying:” Loretta … 1937-2025. “
