Loose Women star Coleen Nolan delivered her honest verdict on platonic friendships, much to the dismay of her ITV co-star and friend Kaye Adams
Loose Women’s Kaye Adams has been left outraged over her co-star Coleen Nolan’s comments about female friends. Back for a new episode of the show’s Just Between Us podcast, Coleen admitted she preferred to be around men rather than women.
Discussing platonic male and female friendships, the 60-year-old she confessed: “I’d say most of my friends… I have better, kind of, more at ease relationships with male friends.”
In response, Kaye, 63, said she was “suspicious” of her, adding: “Women who get on better with men, what’s gone on?”
“Because women are b*tches,” Coleen fired back.
Stunned by her words, Kaye gasped and replied: “How can you say that?”
“Women are b*tches, it’s really easy, I just said it twice,” Coleen responded.
Referencing their roles as panellists on Loose Women, Kaye went on to joke: “Welcome to the all-female panel show.”
Listing why she preferred to be friends with men, Coleen continued: “I think men are non-judgemental, I can have a laugh with men and we don’t gossip and we just have a laugh.
“Sometimes when I’m with women, which I love, when my girlfriends come round and sometimes we’ll sit there but it’s a different vibe than if I’m out with the lads.”
“For once, I am gobsmacked at you saying that,” Kaye said in response. “I really am.”
After Coleen urged Kaye to “admit” that she agreed, she replied: “I think it was the word you used that I took exception to, [and that is] b*tches.
“Because, I don’t like that word. I think it’s got negative connotations. I absolutely do agree with you that women are much more likely to get into the guts of a situation to try and analyse it.”
During the same episode, Kaye was left surprised by another admission from Coleen.
The mother-of-three revealed that she is still friends with her ex-husband Ray Fensome and revealed that he still occasionally stays at her house.
“We’ve been in my house on our own and have both gone ‘night’ and he’s gone into the spare room,” she confessed, before adding: “He’s like a best mate now.”
The former couple, who share daughter Ciara together, were married for 11 years before calling it quits in 2018.
Coleen has also previously been married to EastEnders actor Shane Richie, with whom she shares two sons, Shane Richie Jr and Jake Roche.
In a recent discussion with their pair’s eldest son, the TV star made a candid admission about their relationship.
“I think I stayed two years longer than I should have,” she said on her YouTube Channel.
“Because of you and Jake. Because I had this real thing, I had this thing about ‘my kids are going to be from a broken home’.”
