Janet Street-Porter defended Brooklyn Beckham on Loose Women after he posted an Instagram statement distancing himself from parents David and Victoria Beckham amid ongoing family tensions with wife Nicola Peltz
Loose Women panellist Janet Street-Porter has voiced her backing for Brooklyn Beckham following his explosive public statement, in which he revealed his decision to distance himself from the Beckham clan.
Amid swirling speculation about tensions within the Beckham household over recent months, Brooklyn, the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham, finally broke his silence on Instagram with an extensive post explaining his reasons for stepping back from his famous family.
His statement declared: “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
” I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.

“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always come out”.
The aspiring chef also stood firmly by his wife, Nicola Peltz, dismissing claims that she’s been manipulating him, whilst revealing that his anxiety has vanished since creating distance from his family. Brooklyn concluded his message by writing: “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
Following his explosive announcement, social media platforms were flooded with commentary and responses to the revelation, prompting the Loose Women panel to address the topic right at the beginning of their programme.
Brooklyn’s lawyer, Loose Women’s host Janet Street-Porter, pleaded with viewers to “cut him some slack” when she publicly exposed his family issues.
Kaye Adams contacted Janet about the issue on Tuesday’s (January 20) installment. She responded, “Brooklyn’s message last night captivated me.” I was considering how much writing time was required for this, and how articulate it was.
It listed far more grievances than I had anticipated. I anticipated that everything would be very difficult in the weeks leading up to a wedding. The main event is always the dress.
One would imagine a young man who is focused on being his own person and leading his own life as a result of David and Victoria’s brand, which has to be intact, as they conduct their lives.
Janet then took a swipe at their “brand”, quipping: “I sometimes wish, for a day, when we weren’t on planet Beckham. We’ve had Beckham and the chickens, Beckham and the honey, Beckham in the Wellingtons, Beckham in the countryside and now Beckham with the top world economists.”
He wants his own brand, she continued. He hasn’t found himself yet, despite doing his little bits of cooking and doing this and that, and other things. He is 26 years old, but he seems much younger to me considering his age. So I suggest you give him a little slack, I suppose? Give him some time for himself.
Oti Mabuse concurred, saying, “I think it’s incredibly brave that he’s speaking against his mother and supporting his wife because many people don’t do that, they just let it happen.” However, I believe it’s so depressing because it’s a public family situation.
