With dazzling victories in the second round of the European Championship in Germany, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries both won decisively.
Littler, the reigning world champion, defeated Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld, his childhood hero, 6-1.
The 18-year-old was overjoyed as the five-time world champion was finished with an average of 98.97 and a checkout success rate of 46.2%.
Humphries defeated Poland’s Krzystof Ratajski 6-1 in a thrilling victory at Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle.
The current world number one threw five 180s, clinching victory with a 161 checkout, and had a 109.98 average throughout.
Should Littler win the tournament, he will face James Wade next, who will take the title of first-ever world number one in his career.
