Beau Greaves, a legend in darts, won the most recent tournament in Wigan, extending her remarkable winning streak to 65 matches.
The Doncaster-born 21-year-old made the announcement on Friday that she would compete in the PDC World Championship after defeating Luke Littler in the World Youth Championship semi-finals.
The women’s game on Saturday, which was her turning point, was the first of a four consecutive tournaments held over the course of two days to conclude the PDC Women’s Series.
Greaves struggled through the first four rounds of Saturday’s Women’s Series 21 before being defeated in the quarter-finals by Netherlands’ Noa-Lynn van Leuven in a decider. She only lost two of her 16 legs.
After falling to fellow English player Gemma Hayter by a score of 5-1 in the final four, Greaves resurrected and won 5-4 over Fallon Sherrock, the 2022 Women’s World Matchplay champion.
The PDC World Championships, which begin at London’s Alexandra Palace on December 11 and finish with Sherrock and Lisa Ashton, will be hosted by Greaves and England’s Lisa Ashton.
In the youth final at Minehead later in the month, she will face defending champion Gian van Veen of the Netherlands in the PDC’s Grand Slam in Wolverhampton.
