Ruesha Littlejohn, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground, and she was given an extended five-game ban for violent conduct.

The 35-year-old Republic of Ireland international and Hannah Cain faced off in a game against Leicester on November 23rd.

Littlejohn pushed Cain, slammed her head into the ground, and Littlejohn placed her arm around the Leicester player’s neck.

Cain received a straight red card while Littlejohn received treatment on the pitch, despite being able to win the game.

The Football Association pushed for an extension suspension because they thought the standard punishment was “clearly insufficient.” The current ban for violent behavior is three games.

Cain, the manager at Leicester, was “shaken up” by the incident, according to Leicester manager Rick Passmoor, who will face Manchester City on Sunday in their first Women’s Super League game following the international break.

Littlejohn, who signed for Crystal Palace’s Women’s Super League 2 team over the summer, will not play until after the winter break.

On December 19, she will miss second-tier Palace’s meeting with European champions Arsenal in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Littlejohn will also miss three WSL2 games against Birmingham, Bristol City, and Sheffield United in addition to the FA Cup second round match against Lewes.

The seasoned midfielder remarked on the incident with Wales international Cain.

At a press conference with the Republic of Ireland during the international break, she stated, “Obviously, I regret letting my emotions spill over on the pitch.” I have a lot of emotion and skill.

That’s not who I want to be on the pitch, so I’ll take it away and move on.

After the incident, Republic of Ireland manager Carla Ward claimed Littlejohn had been the subject of an “outpouring” of”disgusting abuse.

Ward, who previously led Littlejohn for Aston Villa and Birmingham City, said, “She is a human being.” She is a person’s sister and daughter. It’s not acceptable.

Ruesha is something I look at, and not just because we have a close relationship. Some of the things I saw this week were repulsive.

She acknowledged that this was a terrible experience.
