TV star Lisa Snowden returned to ITV’s This Morning last week to share her top partywear finds in the lead up to Christmas. And while many people were obsessed with the looks she chose, hailing from supermarkets like ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, many fell in love with her own outfit, which just so happens to be from the high street.
The Marks and Spencer co-ord is made up of a Metallic Sequin Tweed Waistcoat, £50, and matching Sequin Sparkle Tweed Tiered Mini Skirt, £40. Fixed with gold buttons and a V-neckline, the tweed waistcoat and skirt are crafted with metallic fibres and sequins to give it a cosy yet party-ready look that’s great for a work’s do or Christmas day itself.
With a luxurious finish that’s reminiscent of Chanel, the waistcoat can easily be layered over a white or navy long-sleeve top, to ensure the wearer remains warm, although indoors it can be worn without – as shown by Lisa. Posting the image of her donning the look on Instagram, fans of the model and TV personality were quick to comment on her style, with one person stating: “Looking fabulous,” while another said: “The Christmas glow is real.”

As for the skirt, its playful mini length would look great with boots and some tights or with bare legs and heels. It has a fitted style that flares out in a second, frilly tier that adds plenty of volume. The good news is, people wanting to recreate Lisa’s look – she added sheer tights and some black pointed heels – sizes are still plentiful on M&S’ website, with six to 20 still in stock for the waistcoat, and eight to 22 for the skirt.
If the waistcoat isn’t quite fitting the bill, there are similar looks available at other fashion retailers. For example, Next’s Friends Like These Burgandy Red Boucle Flippy Mini Skirt, £38, and matching jacket, £66, is great for those who’d rather less sparkles while still eminating the festive spirit – thanks to its burgundy hue. The jacket is collarless, making it great for pairing with a scarf, while the skirt has a similar style to M&S’ with a voluminous, ruffle tier.

If the M&S combo isn’t sparkly enough, River Island’s Black Boucle Tailored Sequin Mini Skirt, on sale for £29, and Tailored Sequin Jacket, reduced to £56, is decorated in silver sequins that will deliver some serious glitz and glamour, on a black and white houndstooth boucle background.
Although, if Marks and Spencer’s Metallic Sequin Tweed Waistcoat and matching Sequin Sparkle Tweed Tiered Mini Skirt is just right, shoppers who have already snapped it up have been showering it in praise, with many complimenting its tailoring and ‘elegant’ quality.
One person who left a five-star review on the waistcoat said: “A good quality, thick waistcoat with a flattering long silhouette that matches well the skirt.” Although their one gripe? “The sizing of the pieces was a little variable hence 4 stars (I needed a bigger skirt size than normal and I will need to take in the top button of the waistcoat).”
Although contrasting this, someone else noted: “Just a perfect fit, looks stunning and very festive.”
Someone else raved: “Very pretty fabric, normal sizing (12) for M&S, feels comfortable to wear, quality clothing.”
