The animal they socherished memories with has been put to sleep as Liam Payne’s sister navigates her grief following her younger brother’s tragic death in 2024.
Liam Payne’s grieving sister Ruth Gibbins has been dealt another devastating blow after the 34-year-old’s family dog had to be put to sleep. The labrador, named Brit by Liam, was bought for Ruth by her late brother, who tragically died after falling from a hotel window in Argentina, in October 2024.
She shared a number of photos in honor of the adorable dog. She and Beau were pictured snuggling up on the couch, and another image showed Liam cuddling up to the family pet. For Ruth’s wedding day, one image showed the beloved pooch wearing an elf outfit, and the other image captured the sweet canine wearing flowers.

The broken-hearted mother-of-one wrote, “Oh Brit Beau. We had to have Brit snoozed yesterday, heartbreakingly.
She has been the most flawless girl for 13 years. The best present Liam has ever given me was, “Should we get Dad to accept a dog named Brit”?
Britt has always supported me through the most significant occasions in my life (she once jumped on a kitchen table to win one of Liam’s awards)! Perfect in every way from the puppy who ran around chewing on walls and toes to the dignified old lady who would sleep through her days.
She continued, “Thank you Brit, you’ve exceeded all of my expectations for having my own Labrador.” Give him a kiss from me because I am aware of the person you will have crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Many of her followers responded with their own emotional comments in response to the caption. The most compassionate dog I’ve ever had the honor of meeting, one person said. When you were laughing at me while I was just sat chunnering away to her, I’ll never forget the games night we had! There is currently some good company up there for Liam. Love from beginning to end.
Another person said, “Liam and Brit are looking down at us right now, staring at us.” Of it, I’m certain. Brit, rest assuredly.

The tough news comes just after Ruth shared a related struggle as she navigates her grief over One Direction star Liam. She learned how the school she and Liam went to together is being knocked down, describing how difficult it is to watch the world Liam lived in being slowly removed.
She wrote, “It seems like Liam is being completely removed from the planet to hear that part of our senior school is being destroyed and to have such vivid memories of him waiting by my locker every day for money off of me.” He is not here to change with [them], and all of us are changing.
She ended her note with a final thought that was heartbreaking. Every day, Ruth said, “A thousand tiny losses.”
Kate Cassidy, Liam’s ailing girlfriend, discussed her plans for a new partner in the interim. The model, who is grieving for her, shared a short clip of herself waving as the sun sets. As she observed the horizon, her and Liam’s dog accompanied her.
Kate has stated that any potential partners will have to accept that the For You singer will be forever in love with her. In a TikTok video, she stated, “I want to make something clear. Who I end up with in the future will have to accept that I will always be in love with Liam.
“I will always talk about Liam, I’ll always laugh about Liam, and I’ll always cry about Liam,” he says. She continued, “Liam Payne was my boyfriend, let me tell you something. To me, he wasn’t just some well-known person. Because I constantly get criticized for talking about my boyfriend who passed away, the person I loved and still do love, it hurts so much.
She continued, “I would never allow anyone to make up my mind to talk about Liam in this lifetime.” My life depended greatly on Liam. I knew I would spend the rest of my life with my best friend, and I knew I would eventually have to move on. One day, I want to marry. I’d like to be a parent.
