With a four-try victory over Leigh, Leeds Rhinos moved up to fourth place in the Super League.

After tries from Umyla Handley and Keanan Brand, Lachlan Miller put them on the board before Sam Lisone’s try made it 8-0 before half-time.

James Bentley’s try shortly after the break gave Leigh a lead, but Brand added a second try and twice came within striking distance of winning.

Before Saints’ Friday trip to Wakefield, it moved Leeds above St Helens into fourth place.

Leigh, who last lost to Leeds at the end of June, is now third, finishing a four-game winning streak.

After 10 minutes, the hosts opened the scoring with a strong carry from Isaac Liu, with Lachlan Lam’s floated pass allowing Brand to score Leigh’s second try.

Miller dummied and dangled into a half-hole to slide over as Leeds responded.

At the start of the second half, Leeds were much sharper, and Jake Connor extended their lead when Harry Newman lofted a cross-field kick high into the air for Bentley to go over under the posts on the final try.

Brand scored his second try of the night with quick hands and continued pressure from the hosts.

Leigh initially believed they had taken the lead when Bailey Hodgson touched down before Tesi Niu was held up before the video referee ruled out the try for obstruction.
