Lazzat runs free after triumph at Royal Ascot

After denying Japan its first victory at Royal Ascot, French runner Lazzat sprinted free down the track.

The 9-2 winner, trained by Jerome Reynier, won by James Doyle.

Following the earlier success of Humidity in the Chesham Stakes, the jockey and winning owners Wathnan Racing and Flora Of Bermuda were celebrating a double.

After 12 unsuccessful attempts, Satono Reve, who had previously won the meeting, was beaten by half a length.

Lazzat unshipped his jockey and ran around the Ascot course before being caught as Doyle celebrated after the line.

Reynier described Doyle’s performance on Facteur Cheval, who finished sixth in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday, as “perhaps the worst ride given to one of my horses,” as opposed to fellow jockey Flavien Prat.

James was aware that he would never be beaten. The trainer remarked, “He listened exactly to what we said to him.”

He is our champion because he is a funny character, which is why he is Lazzat.

With the help of 52-year-old jockey Seamie Heffernan to take the 28-year-old’s fast-finishing favorite More Thunder, the 28-year-old Get It, trained by George Baker, just won the Wokingham Handicap.

The Hardwicke Stakes victory by Rebel’s Romance was Charlie Appleby’s first royal ascot victory since 2022.

The horse’s halter, William Buick, won the Group One race for the eighth time.

He was the horse we needed, he claimed. In the end, I’m just happy to see one on the board, according to Appleby.

Treanmor, Appleby’s 6-4 favorite, had previously placed fifth place behind Humidity, and Romance, his final Ascot win of the week, was held by Romance.

In the Golden Gates Stakes, Oisin Murphy defeated Seraph Gabriel and trainer Andrew Balding to win the Saturday double.

Murphy, who defeated Ryan Moore in the week’s top jockey, won his fifth straight victory.

Willie Mullins-trained Sober, who is likely to win the Melbourne Cup in November after winning the Queen Alexandra Stakes, won his seventh triumph.

With five wins, John and Thady Gosden won the race, just behind Aidan O’Brien in second place.

Rebel’s Romance triumphs over “dream horse.”

Royal Ascot has been added to the impressive resume of the globetrotting Rebel’s Romance, which has resulted in significant victories in Dubai, Hong Kong, and the United States.

He is the oldest winner of the race in more than a century and has an annual income of more than £10 million.

“We had a shot, a roll of the dice left, and what a partner,” the statement read. He’s a dream horse, according to Buick, and I’m blessed.

He and I “glut together;” he calls me “my best friend.”

The 6-4 favorite finished ahead of Al Riffa, with Ghostwriter taking third place after Amo Racing’s Kia Joorabchian purchased the team for £2 million this week.

Humidity won the Chesham Stakes in a week that had reached 30C.

Owners Wathnan Racing received a fourth winner of the week from James Doyle’s 4-year effort under the guidance of trainer Andrew Balding.

Following a successful debut at Newbury in Cheveley Park Stud in the Cheveley Park colors, the Emir of Qatar’s Wathnan team purchased Humidity, a brother of 2022 champion Holloway Boy.
