Narinder Kaur has arrived at Woolwich Crown Court, where she will sit in the public gallery as Laurence Fox attempts to have his Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act dismissed

Narinder Kaur and Laurence Fox have arrived at court ahead of his hearing. The former actor was charged under Sections 66A and 66B of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which was amended by the Online Safety Act 2023, after reposting sexually invasive images of the broadcaster on social media.

Earlier this year, Fox pleaded not guilty to the sexual offence charges. He was accused of sharing a “photograph or film of a person in an intimate state, intending to cause alarm, distress or humiliation”, in the first count, while the second alleges he sent a “photograph or film of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation.”

Today’s hearing will address Laurence’s abuse-of-process application and his attempt to have his Section 66A charge dismissed. Narinder has waived her legal right to anonymity.

Narinder, who found fame on Big Brother, arrived at court with her husband, Jatinder Punia. Fox was charged in March after an eleven-month probe into his posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. The police had previously said the former Lewis star had been “charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003”, which “relates to an image that was posted on a social media platform in April 2024”. Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act relates to “cyber flashing”.

The charge, introduced in 2023, makes it an offence to intentionally share a sexual image of someone without consent, with the aim of causing alarm, distress, humiliation or for sexual gratification.

Upskirting, taking images of people under their clothing without permission, became a criminal offence in 2019. Offenders can face up to two years in prison and be placed on the sexual offenders’ register.

Prosecutor David Burns told a hearing: “This relates to a post on X, posted by Mr Fox on April 30, 2024. That post shows a picture of the complainant in an intimate state, showing parts of her genitals.”

Narinder previously told The Times: “It’s like being assaulted every day, every time I tweet or go online… Every day I wake up and go to sleep horrified. It’s all because Laurence Fox and his gang of Merry Men decided I needed to be put in my place. I want it to go away, to disappear.”

Shortly after Fox shared the posts, he said he “would like to apologise” to Narinder. He went on to add, “It’s not my fault” that she was pictured in the compromising position over 15 years ago. After the criminal charges were announced, he claimed: “This is yet another deeply concerning example of the two-tier British ‘justice’ system in all its Soviet glory.

“How much more time, effort and taxpayer money are the @metpoliceuk going to spend ignoring actual crimes in their efforts to silence ordinary British people? Fight! Fight! Fight!”.
