Lambourn won the Derby at Epsom to set a new record for Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien, his 11th victory in the Classic.
The 13-2 chance, ridden by Wayne Lordan, slammed against the wall without being caught.
Outsider Lazy Griff (50-1) finished third, followed by Tennessee Stud (third).
In the lead-up to the race, Lambourn, the Chester Vase winner, was perceived as the outsider of O’Brien’s three rivals.
However, The Lion In Winter was 14th place while Delacroix, who was chosen by stable jockey Ryan Moore, was only able to finish ninth.
Lordan’s early efforts to get Lambourn to the front made him a powerful winner in the 246th running of the race.
