Legislators have condemned the move following the incident on Monday at the Lagos House of Assembly by operatives, including policemen and Department of State Services officials.
The lawmakers fought back with the security guards before eventually gaining access to the chambers and holding a plenary session presided over by Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
They each rebuffed the action and demanded an explanation from Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the DSS’s director general, to explain the actions of his men.

Among the speakers were Ladi Ajomale, who represents Oshodi-Isolo 2, and Kehinde Joseph, who represents Alimosho Constituency, who also expressed her disapproval of the DSS personnel’s actions.
The 36 members of the 40-member house who were present approved the new speaker’s confidence in her, claiming that all attempts to replace her with Mudashiru Obasa’s office were futile.
As the lawmakers approved a vote of confidence in her and adjourned the session indefinitely, Meranda became upset.
Since then, the House has been the subject of a verbal exchange between the DSS and the assembly. The House denied making such a request, despite the DSS’s claim that its employees were invited.
