Kylie Minogue returned to London to switch on Battersea Power Station’s huge Christmas tree, surprising fans with a festive countdown and a special performance

Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue brought sparkle and star power on her return to London as she officially switched on the 40-foot Christmas tree at Battersea Power Station on Thursday.

Kylie surprised visitors in Malaysia Square as she took to the stage to lead a festive countdown before pressing the button to light up the giant Christmas tree, thousands of twinkling lights along Electric Boulevard and the Power Station’s famous skyline.

Kylie said: “It’s been such a magical night here at the iconic Battersea Power Station. I absolutely loved turning on the Christmas lights and seeing everyone getting into the festive spirit! I also had a sneak peek at the Kylie Christmas pop-up and I’m so excited for everyone to discover the treats we have in store to add to their celebrations.”

Adding to the magic was a performance by the Battersea Power Station Community Choir, who performed a medley of Kylie Christmas favourites including ‘Let It Snow’, ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.

The two-time Grammy Award winner moved from London back to Australia in 2021 after 30 years in Britain. At the time she said: “It is true, I’ll be basing myself in Australia but I can’t believe the reaction it’s had. I have had friends call me, you know, my friend at my local restaurant was like ‘hey what do you mean you can’t go!’

“I said I am not really going, of course I’ve lived here for 30 years, I’m always going to be back. So, I am(moving) but I don’t think too much will change.”

Kylie’s Christmas event marked the start of a season of celebrations at Battersea Power Station, including an exclusive Kylie Christmas pop-up shop running from December 5-7.

The shop will be located on the Upper Ground Floor of the North Atrium and will offer fans one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts including limited edition vinyl, signed test pressings, limited edition signed lithographs and Kylie merchandise including: baubles, a woolly hat and scarf, Limited Edition Kylie Minogue Wine, a hot water bottle, the official 2026 calendar and more.

Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped)’ is the special 10th anniversary edition of Kylie’s beloved original Christmas album – which is released on December 5.

It is described as a glittering collection of timeless holiday tracks that capture the warmth, fun and glamour of the festive season in true Kylie style.
